Srinagar, Oct 9: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages has announced the Best Translation Award for the year 2011.
According to a notification issued by the Academy here, four books in Kashmiri, Pahari, Punjabi and English have qualified for the award this year.
'Wunal te Sirye' in Kashmiri by Satish Vimal, Sanja Dard in Pahari by Parvez Manoos, Berlin Di Deewar in Punjabi by Iccupal Singh and Crescendo in English by Abid Ahmad have been awarded for the excellence in translation for the year 2011.
The books in each language are sent for adjudication to three experts in each language, from the Central Committee approved panel of adjudicators for evaluation.
Aimed at honouring the best literature in translation, the award carries a cash prize of Rs 25,000, a shawl and a citation.
