Asking political parties not to create frenzy over the release of Muslim League leader Masrat Alam, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) chief and MLA Khansahib Hakim Muhammad Yasin Monday said hundreds of political prisoners who are languishing in jails must be released without any further delay.
In a statement to press he said there is no need to raise hue and cry over Alam's release.
"It is a normal process. There are other people who are languishing in jails for years and there is need to release them immediately," he said. Hakim Yasin said that whether release of political prisoners is in the common minimum programme of the coalition government or not it is their duty to give succour to the people.
"Release of political prisoners is a human issue and nobody should try to score points over it. There are hundreds of innocents languishing in jails and it is the duty of the government that they should be released without any further delay," the MLA Khansahib demanded.
He also urged the government to revoke cases against those youth who had been booked in stone pelting cases. "They are educated youth and there career is at stake. Government should in one go revoke all the cases against them," the PDF chief added.
