Srinagar, Nov 9: The school education department has decided to bring the school dropouts between 6-14 years into the formal stream of education under the Sakshar Bharat Mission 2012.
 While as 15 years and above are to be provided non-formal based education with emphasis on vocational education under the scheme, the department decided.
 The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the officers of department held here today at the directorate of school education, Kashmir, with the director, Shagufta Parveen in chair. The director SRC J&K, Showkat Farooqi and deputy director planning, Muhammad Ashraf were present.
 "A structure was formulated and proposed to the government in which Sakshar Bharat Mission-2012 will be carried out at village-Panchayat level, block level and district level," read an official handout issued by the directorate, adding "The aim of the scheme is to ensure 100 per cent literacy with special focus on female education. It is scheduled to cover erstwhile 13 district of the state. A monitoring mechanism is already in place to assess the progress monthly and quarterly."
