Srinagar, Oct 9: The Chairman of Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani has urged people to observe complete shutdown on Sunday and stage peaceful protests.
In a statement, Geelani asked people to stage peaceful demonstrations from Zuhr to Asar prayers. "On Sunday, people should offer prayers at the Martyrs' graveyards and vow that they won't let the blood of martyrs go waste," he said.
Geelani strongly condemned the attack on a school bus by the CRPF troopers. "Now our children too are not safe. This has exposed those who shed crocodile tears on the disruption of education," he said.
Geelani expressed strong resentment over the crackdown on the people of Palhalan Pattan. "For past 27 days, the Palhalan has been continuously put under siege. The people including children and women there are on the verge of starvation. This is the worst kind of state terrorism by the troopers. The Government led by Omar Abdullah is only visible from Assembly to the Secretariat. Rest of the Valley has been taken over by the Army. Even the civil administration and law and order is under the direct control of the Army," he said.
