Srinagar, Oct 9: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday said it has accepted the magisterial inquiry report into the killing of three youth in Islamabad implicating police into the "cold blood murder" of the deceased.
"Government has accepted the magisterial inquiry report in this regard and on the basis of the recommendations of the inquiry officer, names of four police personnel have been added in the FIR already lodged in the Police Station Islamabad," State minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs minister said in response to a written question by MY Tarigami.
"Pending inquiry, the then SHO has been placed under suspension and disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against the then SSP Islamabad," the minister said.
The Inquiry conducted by Additional District Development Commissioner Islamabad had confirmed the involvement of police in the incident, which triggered massive protests across the Valley.
Earlier, the Home Department had acted on the Magisterial Inquiry Report (MIR) into the killing of three teenagers named Shujat-ul-Islam, Ishtiyaq Ahmad Khanday and Imtiyaz Ahmad Ittoo who were murdered in Anchidoora area of Islamabad town on June 29 after police chased away the youth protesting killing of another teenager, Arshid Ahmad, who had received a bullet in his leg that morning. Ishtiyaq, 15, was a student of class 10th, Imtiyaz Ahmad Itoo, 17, worked in a bakery shop while Shujat-ul-Islam, 17 was a student of class 12th.
