Srinagar, Oct 9: The Department of Geography and Regional Development, University of Kashmir, is organising a two day national seminar "Himalayan Resources: Issues, Challenges & Management strategies", at the varsity campus from Tuesday, October 11.
According to varsity communiqué, the objective of the seminar is to identify the present issues concerning the theme "Himalayan Resources: Issues, Challenges & Management strategies," realize the challenges of future and based on these prepare a sound holistic multi-pronged management strategy wherein man and his necessities are given due consideration, said Prof M S Bhat, Head of the Geography department and co-convenor of the seminar.
He said the seminar was expected to provide a platform for Geographers to interact among themselves and with the experts from other allied disciplines to deliberate and discuss and then provide a broad framework for formulation of a sound management strategy.
Prof Bhat said in order to initiate research and develop academic interest on Himalayas with special reference to Kashmir, this seminar would lay a foundation for advanced research in this field. About 110 delegates from different institutions and agencies are expected to participate in the event, he added.
