National Conference on Monday questioned the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's move to facilitate the entry of VHP President Praveen Togadia to enter J&K to spew communal venom at a time when Togadia has been banned from propagating communal bigotry in various Indian States like Assam, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh and after a four year ban on Togadia's entry into Jammu and Kashmir.
NC Spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu said these unacceptable and dangerous tricks by Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed are aimed at disrupting the communal harmony of the State in order to divert attention from the hollow Common Minimum Program (CMP) between PDP and BJP which has seen enormous climb-downs in PDP's earlier stated positions on AFSPA and Article 370.
"The enacting of these antics of creating hype about issues which don't merit political manipulation and exploitation is part of a larger plan to divert attention away from the continued misery of the flood victims and the unimaginable compromises made by PDP in its stated position on various political issues like AFSPA and Article 370", NC Spokesman Junaid Mattu said.
"The CMP between PDP and BJP clearly states that PDP has officially thrown its much touted 'Self Rule' document into the political dustbin of expediency and has given up its demand for the revocation of AFSPA. PDP also chose to not include the finalization of the Flood Relief Package in the CMP. To divert attention from these drastic u-turns and compromises, PDP wants to resort to theatrics and diversionary tricks".
"The previous State Government led by National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah had ensured that communal entities like Togadia inimical to State's harmony and peace were kept away from J&K and were not allowed to propagate hate in the State at any cost", Mattu said. "It is pertinent to note that Omar Abdullah had disallowed Praveen Togadia's entry into J&K based on Togadia's efforts to spread communal animosity in the State".
The NC Spokesman also highlighted the fact that while PDP had publicly promised that it would not forge any alliance with BJP without making the CMP public, the CMP was actually made public after the Government was formed.
"The political marriage of convenience was legalized post consummation between the two parties and promises by Mufti Sayed and Mehbooba Mufti to make the CMP public before the alliance proved to be hollow lies and now we all know why.", the NC Spokesman said.
"Continued theatrics to conceal PDP's sell-out might divert the attention of the people and media in the short-term but such betrayals cannot be concealed by melodrama and rhetoric".
