Baramulla, Nov 9: To commemorate the National Legal Aid Services Day, two public rallies for awareness of free legal aid were held in this north Kashmir district on Saturday.
The event was held the aegis of District Legal Services Authority (DALSA) Baramulla under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge Baramulla Abdul Rashid Dar. He also inaugurated an awareness camp at Kuharah Chandoosa in which hundreds of people from different walks including ST, ALC, and other remote areas participated.
Another camp was held at Wanigam Payeen under the chairmanship Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Pattan Mahmud Anwar Alnasir. On the occasion Abdul Rashid Dar who was chief guest of the event highlighted the need of awareness among the masses particularly downtrodden sessions of the society who don't have essay access to justice.
Sub judge Pattan, M A Alnasir, expressed concern over what he said, "criminalization of society". "I urge people to be vigilant about their rights and knock the doors of court to safeguard their interests without any fear," Alnasir said.
Additional DC, SSP Baramulla were the guests of honour.
Students of Law Faculty from Kashmir University also participated in the event.

Similar events were held at Kargil and Ganderbal. CJM Kargil Javed Alam who is also chairman of TLSC Kargil, dwelt on aims and objectives of the legal service authority act and emphasized upon the officers to implement the act in letter and spirit.
Another event was held under the aegis of Chairman District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal Muhammad Ashraf Malik.
