Tanghdar, Nov 9: A newly constructed hospital building in this border town was abandoned by the authorities after it developed cracks.
According to official sources, patients and staff were forced to abandon the newly constructed building of Sub-District Hospital Tanghdar as the structure developed several cracks, a month after its inauguration.
Sources said District Development Commissioner Kupwara has rushed a team of officers for on the spot assessment of the damages. The team has been asked to come up with a report immediately.
The new building for the hospital was constructed at a cost of Rs 8 crore.
Meanwhile, Opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) workers staged a protest demonstration here demanding impartial probe into matter.
Scores of PDP workers led by senior leader Advocate Raja Manzoor assembled at the hospital premises staging demos. They were demanding independent probe into the matter.
The protesters said that sub-standard material was used in the building resulting in its immediate damage.
Pertinently, a day before, locals Sarpanchs and Panchs also staged protests demanding probe into the matter.
