Peoples Democratic Party Sunday said Omar Abdullah could not escape from the collective responsibility of Afzal Guru''s execution as without the consent of the Chief Minister, he could not have been hanged.

Peoples Democratic Party Sunday said Omar Abdullah could not escape from the collective responsibility of Afzal Guru's execution as without the consent of the Chief Minister, he could not have been hanged.

In a statement, Party general secretary, Rafi Ahmad Mir said that without taking the sensitivities of the people of Jammu and Kashmir into account before taking the decision, Congress and NC caused a setback to the peace process without following a proper process and constitutional requirements.

Mir said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, owed his "survival" in 2010 and 2011 to Congress, and readily agreed to hang Guru out of turn in a manner that did not do any good to the image of the country as a secular democracy where rule of law is supreme.

He accused Congress and National Conference of indulging in partisan politics at the cost of image of the country having subverted its system by not allowing Guru's family to have at least last minute meeting with him.
