Paying tributes to Asiya and Neelofar on their anniversary, Jammu Kashmir Salvation Movement spokesperson Friday said forces were using rape as a weapon of war against women in Kashmir.
The party staged a protest at Press Enclave here and slammed authorities for detaining party chairman Zaffer Akbar Bhat 'who was scheduled to lead the protest demonstrations.'
The spokesperson said, "the protest was aimed at remembering Asiya and Neelofar on their martyrdom anniversary and to send a reminder for worldwide communities who have maintained a silence over the grave human rights violations perpetrated by forces."
Expressing sympathy with the family of Asiya and Neelofar, the protesters 'blamed New Delhi for shielding the culprits involved in the rape and murder of the duo.'
"India is using rape as an instrument of oppression against the people of the state to crush the freedom sentiment," they said.
