Amid controversial alleged eviction of Muslims in Jammu, the large number of Gujjar and  Bakerwal protestors Sunday alleged Forest Minister Bali Bhagat has himself encroached forest land in Bawani Jammu and must evacuate it first.

They alleged that Bhagat is having land under khasra number 1184, which, a reply sought under RTI revealed is a state sand forest land.

Protestors led by Gujjar and Bakarwal Community head Shahnawaz Choudhray said that minister is implementing RSS agenda in state and dividing people on communal lines.

The eviction of people in Muslim areas of Jammu has come under severe criticism with various quarters alleging that it is conspiracy against Muslims.

"Bhagat is creating communal tension in the state and under conspiracy is evacuating innocent Gujjar and Bakarwal community from their homes," he said.

"If Bhagat really wants anti-encroachment drive of forest land, he must first vacate the land in Bawani Nagar Jammu which he himself has encroached. The reply sought under RTI reveals that this land measuring three kanals under khasra number 1184 is state and forest land," he added.

He alleged present regime of has anti-people policies. "PDP-BJP is implementing RSS agenda in state. The authorities have given ownership rights of these lands to the poor people under Roshni scheme. It is very unfortunate that Bali Bhagat is hell bent to render the poor people homeless," said protestors.

Angry protestors, who burnt the effigy of forest minister, said that they would not allow anyone to implement RSS agenda in the state. "The nefarious designs of miscreants would be defeated tooth and nail," they added.

Kashmir Centre for Social and Development Studies (KCSDS) on June 2 had deplored, what it said, the forcible eviction of Muslim tribal communities out of the deemed forest land in Jammu region.

Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik also held one day hunger strike against "forced evacuation of Muslims" from Jammu forests."
