A teenage girl from Pulwama has been selected for participation in the 'Building Bridges' programme being organised at Kingston campus of the University of Rhode Island, USA from June 29 to July 25.
A student of Dolphin International School Pulwama, Afeefa Farooq Fazli who recently passed her 10th class examination scoring 427 marks has already left for USA to take part in the prestigious event where she will enjoy company of students from some other south Asian countries including Pakistan.
"We are delighted to inform you that you have been selected for participation in the Building Bridges Program that will take place from June 29 – July 25 at the Kingston campus of University of Rhode Island," reads the letter, sent to Afeefa by Prof Manbir Sodhi of Mechanical, Industrial and Systems Engineering, The University of Rhode Island at Kingston.
Earlier, Afeefa had represented J&K in the national baseball team at Bhubaneswar (odisha) and Goa.
A hardworking student with an excellent academic record, Afeefa also has attended WISCOMP workshops at Delhi and Srinagar.
"I see this opportunity as one that could change my life. Not only would this programme guide me to make an informed choice of my future career, it can change my entire world view about myself, my community, my country and the South Asian region," Afeefa told Greater Kashmir.
