Activists of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) led by the Front vice-president Bashir Ahmed Bhat took to the streets on Wednesday to protest against the burning of IS flag bearing Quranic verses in Rajouri.

Bhat while addressing the protesters said: "Oppression against Jammu Muslims is intolerable and Kashmiri Muslims will launch an agitation against this oppression if it is not stopped immediately."

"Protesters holding play cards and raising slogans in favor of Jammu Muslims marched towards Lal Chowk. Police tried to stop the procession midway but due to stiff resistance offered by the protesters, policemen couldn't foil their attempt. As soon as protesters reached near press enclave police from both sides and arrested them," witnesses said.

A JKLF spokesman identified the arrested JKLF leaders as JKLF vice chairman advocate Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi, zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal, zonal senior vice-president Muhammad Yasin Bhat, zonal general secretary sheikh Abdul Rashid, zonal organizer Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Sheikh Khalid Mubarak, Ghulam Muhammad Dar, Muhammad Haneef, Imtiyaz Ganai, Shakir Ahmad Aahangar, Bashrat Ahmad Butt and Ali Muhammad Bhat.

Earlier JKF vice-chairman Bashir Ahmed Bhat while talking to reporters said: "This protest is being organized in wake of what happened at Rajouri and what is being systematically done throughout Jammu region after the present regime took over the reins."

He said that after the establishment of present PDP/BJP rule, Jammu Muslims are being targeted and terrorized and in a systematic manner and an atmosphere of fear is being created among them .He said that rulers at the behest of RSS are trying to recreate and repeat 1947 and by displacing Muslims from Jammu belt are actually engaged in fulfilling RSS agenda of demography change in Jammu region.

He said that present regime in Jammu Kashmir from the first day is trying to pursue the RSS agenda here but we want to convey to them a simple message that they are playing with fire and these measures would have disastrous results and the responsibility of all this would rest with them. "Kashmiris will not watch atrocities on Jammu Muslims silently and will launch a sustained agitation against this if situation doesn't change."

He said that Kashmiri Muslims stand by their Jammu brothers in this hour of need and we warn rulers to stop terrorizing Jammu Muslims otherwise, Muslims in Kashmir will have no choice but to launch a strong protest movement against this.
