After two months hiatus, the Coordination Committee of the PDP-BJP coalition government headed by Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh will be meeting within few days to deliberate on important issues of development, security situation and how to run the coalition smoothly despite challenging situations.
"Yes, the Coordination Committee meeting will be called very soon. The meeting was not held because some members were out of town," Singh, who is Chairman of CC, told KNS.
The meeting assumes significance in view of the provocative statements coming from ministers and senior leaders of both coalition partners and the prevailing political and security situation in the state. Sources said the CC Chairman has taken strong exception to the statements "antagonistic to the coalition dharma" and thus has formulated the agenda keeping in view all the issues which are bothering the two partners in the government.
Sources added that the agenda of the meeting includes taking stock of the developmental activities initiated by the government in all the three regions of the state, prevailing political and security situation in the state, particularly in Kashmir, and also the discussion on the agenda of alliance. Sources added that the Coordination Committee meeting could not take place in time as PDP president and Member Parliament Mehbooba Mufti, who is also the member of CC, was on a visit to United States. Besides Dr Singh and Mehbooba, the other members of the CC include Muzaffar Baigh, Tariq Hameed Qarra (both PDP members of Parliament), Health Minister and BJP leader Lal Singh, and BJP's Member of Rajya Sabha, Shamsher Singh Manhas.
