Prof Nirmal Gupta today assumed charge of Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir State Social Welfare Board (SSWB).
Soon after assuming the charge, the Chairperson convened a meeting of the staff and officers of the Board.
The Chairperson reviewed the overall functioning of the Board and stressed upon the officers and field functionaries to work with missionary spirit for upliftment of weaker sections. Prof Nirmal Gupta emphasized on proper implementation of welfare schemes besides skill training to the needy, especially poor and orphans.
Prof Gupta was received by Secretary of the Board, Aamir Ali and other functionaries of the Board.
The Chairperson said that Government endeavours to uplift the socio-economic condition of the weaker sections and has launched various welfare schemes, which need strict implementation at grass root level. She asked the functionaries of the Board have to work with zeal and zest to achieve the welfare targets in time.
Meanwhile, Prof Gupta inspected Family Counselling Centre, Qamarwari and Crech Centre, Barji Harwan. She took stock of the functioning of the welfare centres and directed the concerned managements for proper education and skill training and counselling to the poor. KNS
