A strong tremor earthquake jolted the Kashmir valley on Monday.
The earthquake, measuring 5.9 (revised from earlier 5.7) on the Richter scale, shook various parts of Pakistan, Afghanistan, India and the Kashmir valley.
According to US Geological Survey, the epicentre of the earthquake was somehwere around the Afghan province of Ashkasham.
It was not immediately known if the earthquake caused any damage.
Pakistan Meteorological Department, according to an online portal News Tribe, said that strong tremors were felt in Peshawar, Swat, Chitral, Batkhaila, Abbottabad, Mansehra and Chitral besides capital Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Pictures posted by netizens on Twitter showed scary Pakistanis running out of their homes and offices.
The tremors were felt in New Delhi as well.
Reports from various parts of the valley said that frightened residents rushed out of their home as the earthquake struck at around 3:30 pm today.
