With the tourist season at its zenith, the overcharging at tourist places has taken the sheen off the merrymaking for most of the day trippers.

Apart from the foreigners, the domestic tourists including a majority of local holiday makers have complained about overcharging at tourist spots.

"From a slice of bread to Pashmina shawls and from the parking of vehicles to the usage of paid toilet, tourists are being overcharged for every service or goods," said a tourist from Mumbai.

People complained that the market checking squads are nowhere to be found near the tourist spots that pave way for the shopkeepers and others to charge more from the gullible visitors.

"Most of the eatables are below standard and at times even past their shelf life," said Arif Nazir, a local visitor from Chidhama, Anantnag.
