Family of 11 loses sole bread earner

“Before leaving for Srinagar, father told us to concentrate on studies as term tests were nearing. He asked us not to go out of the house until he returns from Srinagar, but he never came back,” says Aalya, the youngest daughter of Javid Ahmad Khan, RET teacher found dead in mysterious circumstances in Qamarwari area of Srinagar on Thursday.

Javid (42) is survived by 11 family members including his five children, wife, 70-year old blind mother, widow of his brother and his 3 handicapped children.

Khan had lost his father and younger brother and was the sole source of income for the large family.

Javid was engaged as an RET teacher in 2005 and was confirmed in 2010.

"Who will take care of this family and handicapped children? Who will fetch medicines for me," rues his mother Sarah Begum. "Who killed you Javid? You had no enmity with anyone."
