Medical Faculty Association (GMC/GDC) has called upon the government to implement MCI regulations the absence of which 'can have a negative bearing on the smooth conduct of MBBS and MD courses at the medical colleges.'
A delegation of MFA also met Commissioner Secretary Health, Dr M K Bhandari and briefed him about the various issues confronted by the faculty. The members of the Association, led by Dr Kaiser Ahmed stressed the need to implement MCI norms in vogue to streamline the process of holding DPC at regular and specified intervals and also to address bottlenecks that lead to stagnation in the faculty.
MFA also sought a moratorium of one year on Credit hours and publications for officiating promotions of eligible faculty members to the next level citing the September 2014 floods, which the faculty said, had resulted in almost all departments of GMC/GDC getting inundated.
The members, quoting various incidents of violence in hospitals that had resulted in damage to hospital property and physical and psychological trauma to doctors, said that an ordinance against assault on doctors and paramedics and damage to hospital property was the need of the hour.
