In order to review the security and other arrangements for ensuing Muharram, a high level meeting of senior police, civil and paramilitary officers was convened at Police Control Room (PCR) here today.
As per an official spokesman, the meeting was chaired by Director General of Police, K Rajendra Kumar, during which the arrangements put in place for Muharram in the Valley were discussed threadbare.
Security, police bandbust and deployment of personnel was discussed in the meeting, besides traffic arrangements and maintenance of law & order during Muharram days, the spokesman said.The meeting was attended by ADsGP, S. M. Sahai, L. Mohanty, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Asgar Samoon and senior officers from central para-military forces.
He said the officers present in the meeting, briefed the DGP about the arrangements put in place to ensure peaceful Muharram processions in Srinagar city and other parts of the Valley. On the occasion, the DGP stressed upon the officers to coordinate with each other, ensuring peaceful Muharram processions in the Valley. He said that due to the joint efforts by all stakeholders we have to maintain law and order during the Muharram days. Rajendra also stressed upon the officers to maintain close liaison with the civil administration for ensuring peaceful observance of Muharram, the spokesman said.
