Senior National Conference leader and MLC, Dr Bashir Ahmad Veeri along with hundreds of party activists on Sunday took out a protest rally here against BJP-PDP government for its 'anti-people' policies.
The protesting NC activists raised anti-government slogans and marched from Dak Banglow to Khanabal Chowk. They were carrying placards reading 'Stop Killing of innocent Youths', 'Stop harassing people', Rehabilitate flood victims' and 'Release wages of ReTs and employees.'
Veeri, on the occasion threatened to launch valley-wide agitation against PDP-BJP government if it failed to mitigate the problems faced by common masses.
Earlier addressing the party activists at Dak Banglow, MLC Veeri said that Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed "befooled Kashmiris at every stage right from elections."
"During elections Mufti Sahab asked people to vote for PDP for stopping BJP's mission 44 but later he joined hands with BJP just for the sake of chair despite ours unconditional support," Veeri told gathering.
He said that Mufti Sayeed justified the move by saying that New Delhi will provide ample funds to state for overall development but as of now Kashmir has received nothing.
"Package of Rs 80,000 crore is a cruel joke with state as it mostly covers the projects already under execution and funds are spread over 10 years. Maximum beneficiaries are executors from outside Kashmir," he added.
He expressed concern over the way innocent youths are being killed and harassed.
"Not a single Kashmiri especially youth are safe. Since PDP-BJP government took over the law and order situation has worsened," Veeri said.
