The General Officer Commanding of Srinagar based Chinar Corps Lt Gen Satish Dhua on Tuesday said 50 to 60 militants are active in north Kashmir.
The GOC while talking to reporters on a sidelines of a function here said, "Militants are on the run and their number is between 50 to 60 in north Kashmir."
Replying to a query about Manigah encounter which has been on for the past 10 days, Dua said, "In order to avoid the collateral damage operation is taking time. To protect the life and property army has to exercise restraint which at times leads to delay in conducting anti insurgency operations. Indian army officers and men have always led from the front for the safety of nation."
