Commandos air-dropped to fight militants after attack on army base in Tangdhar

Commandos of Indian army have been air-dropped to tackle the militants who have positioned themselves on a ridge outside an army base in Tangdhar area of north Kashmir.

Sources said that the commandoes were dropped to help the army in the ongoing fierce firefight that erupted at around 8 am today.

A junior commissioned officer has so far died while a colonel and an employee of the engineering department sustained injuries.

Sources added that a heavily armed group of militants threw grenades at the army base, setting oil depos  and several vehicles on fire at the Kalsuri ridge near Line of Control in Tangdhar area of Kupwara district.
