Muslim Deeni Mahaz (MDM) incarcerated president Dr Muhammad Qasim today expressed concern over, what he said, "the pace at which cultural aggression is taking place in Jammu Kashmir."

"The pace at which cultural aggression is taking place in Jammu Kashmir is much more alarming than the presence of troops here," a spokesman of MDM, in a statement today, quoted Dr Qasim as having said, adding that "The real strength of India does not lie in the territorial nationalism but in cultural nationalism. The geographical unity of India was achieved by the Mughals and the British and thus for Indian nationalism it is of secondary importance."

"The Indian rulers, intelligentsia and media in Jammu Kashmir are working to develop and propagate Indian culture here so that important goal of cultural assimilation of Jammu Kashmir is achieved. We request the ideological pro-freedom leadership to make people aware about these issues," Dr Qasim said.
