Jama'at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir today expressed sorrow over the Bangladesh Supreme Court verdict, upholding the death penalty announced by War Crimes Tribunal against Ameer Jama'at of Jama'at Islami Bangladesh, Moulana Matiur Rahman Nizami.

"All famous legal luminaries of the world have expressed their deep reservations regarding the impartiality of the Tribunal headed by pro- establishment bureaucratic minded judges. Jama'at expresses its shock over the criminal silence of the Muslim world. There are as many as 55 independent Muslim states which can exert pressure upon the barbaric lady Sheikh Hasina holding the reigns of Bangladesh simply by issuing a joint statement condemning the anti-Islamic imperialist role against the Islamists at the behest of some powerful enemies of Islam," the Jama'at spokesman Advocate Zahid Ali, in a statement today, said, expressing sympathy with Jama'at-e- Islami Bangladesh and the victims of state and judicial high-handedness.
