This south Kashmir town observed a complete shutdown for the seventh running day on Wednesday as Police did not allow the youth to set up a memorial in the town.
All the business establishments and shops remained closed while traffic was off the roads. Force personnel were deployed in every nook and corner of town to thwart protests and any attempt to set up a memorial.
The youth in Pulwama want to set up a memorial with posters and pictures of slain militants but the police are not allowing them to do so. Till date meetings between the police and locals have failed to break the deadlock. The youth have said that the strike would continue till they are not allowed to put the memorial at place.
Pertinently two LeT militants including a district commander, who was a local resident of Alichibagh Kakapora, died in a gunfight at Gusoo during the wee hours of Dec 31 since then Pulwama has been observing a shutdown.
