The workers of MLA Langate Er Rashid and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) exchanged blows during the former's sit-in at Pulwama on Thursday.
Witnesses said that workers of Rasheed got better of BJP activists when they tried to catch hold of the independent legislator during a sit-in outside the Deputy Commissioner's office in Pulwama.
"The BJP workers were thrashed by supporters of Rasheed," said an eye-witness.
The BJP activists, he said, accused Rasheed of being an agent of Pakistan.
However, cops deployed at the venue prevented the warring parties from injuring one another.
The sit-in was organized to protest the killing of a civilian in firing by forces during a demonstration in Naina Batpora village of the district.
