Residents of Saderkoot Bala, Ajas and its adjoining villages in north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Monday staged a demonstration against the Power Development Department (PDD).
The protesters, demonstrating against erratic power supply, also blocked Bandipora-Srinagar highway, thereby disrupting traffic movement on the busy road.
The protesters were raising anti-PDD and anti-administration slogans.
They alleged that the PDD is making fun of electricity by unnecessary power cuts in the area which falls under Sumbal electric division.
"The department has left the area high and dry as no official is paying attention towards the area," said a protester, Shakeel Ahmad.
He said that the authorities have thrown them into dark-age as the area has to face 14-18 hours of power curtailment on a daily basis.
"Many a time, we brought this issue into the notice of higher officials but to no avail," locals said, adding that they are forcing them to come out on roads.
The residents of Ajas and its adjoining areas had on Friday also blocked the Bandipora-Srinagar road to protest against the PDD.
