MLA Langate Sheikh Rashid has strongly rejected M J Akbar's statement claiming that Kashmir is an "inalienable part of India" and giving up Kashmir means surrendering Indian Muslim's rights.
In a statement Rashid said. "Kashmiris have not been seeking solution to the dispute on the basis of religion but are demanding right to plebiscite as promised by United Nations. Being a knowledgeable journalist he knows that Kashmiris are not responsible for two nation theory and Jammu and Kashmir was a free sovereign country while people of sub-continent were fighting Britishers."
"Rights of Kashmiri Muslims cannot be kept hostage to such excuses. MJ Akbar's statement itself indicates the level of insecurity among Indian Muslims, which they can't even express. Can Akbar deny that from Bollywood actors to beef eaters people are being abused and humiliated only because they are Muslims. Unless people like Akbar don't raise their voice and feel the pain of Muslims in JK, they have no right to add insult to our injuries," MLA Langate added.
