The man arrested from Chadoora locality in central kashmir's Budgam district late Sunday is a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant, police said.

Earlier, officials told Greater Kashmir that the man was detained after he tried to flee when asked to stop at a check-post in Chadoora, 20 kilometres from Kashmir capital Srinagar.

PTI news agency, quoting an unnamed police official, said that the militant was identified as Basharat Ahmad Shah.

"One AK rifle, two magazines and a hand grenade were recovered from the possession of the arrested militant," it reported.
