Jama'at-e-Islami (JeI) Jammu and Kashmir today vehemently condemned, what it said, the "police atrocities" being committed upon the innocent people of Kashmir.

"Police are committing atrocities on the people in Kashmir to please their masters who are bent upon crushing the voice of the people against the state sponsored lawlessness by which thousands of innocent people have so far been killed and thousands others subjected to inhuman treatments and thereby deprived of their smooth and peaceful life as independent human beings and as such turning their life into the hell," the Jama'at spokesman advocate Zahid Ali said in a statement.

"In Naina Batapora area some days back an innocent youth protesting the highhanded attitude of the forces was killed by their indiscriminate firing which resulted in strong protest from the public.  Now the police have started arresting the youth during the nocturnal raids to teach them lesson for voicing their displeasure against the unjustified and brutal action of the Indian forces," the spokesman alleged, adding that "Jama'at Islami strongly denounces the unjustified arrest spree of police and demands immediate and unconditional release of all the detainees keeping in mind that hundreds of youth who are languishing in different jails and torture centres," he added.
