Shopian-Zainapora-Bijbehara road widening project gets Centre nod
The much-awaited widening of the vital Shopian-Bijbehara road has been approved by Government of India.
According to order, the Union ministry of Road Transport and Highways has sanctioned an amount of Rs 48.93 crore for the upgradation and widening of the road, which connects Shopian with Bijbehara.
Apart from connecting historical Mughal road with Srinagar-Jammu highway at Bijbehara town, the road is also the vital link to around two dozen villages that connects them to south Kashmir's district Anantnag.
The union ministry has directed the state government to adopt e-tendering on mandatory basis for the speedy execution of the project-which is of utmost important as the renovation of this road would give relief to thousands of people of the area.
