Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chief Yasin Malik was placed under house arrest early Saturday, said a spokesman of the outfit.

Malik and other top separatist leaders had called for a shutdown today against the "witch-hunt" launched by the Delhi police against Kashmiri students in the capital following a crackdown on JNU over an event organised to remember Afzal Guru on his third execution anniversary earlier this month.

The spokesman, while condemning Malik's house detention, said that two leaders of the outfit have also been detained in police stations.

"Muhammad Ishaq Ganaie, District president Islamabad and Rafiq War, District President Kupwara were detained in police stations yesterday," said the spokesman.
