Hundreds of residents of Keran area of frontier district Kupwara on Monday tried to march towards the Line of Control (LoC) against the implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) in Jammu and Kashmir.
The protesters said that they wanted to procure rice from across the border.
Hundreds of people from different hamlets of the area assembled and tried to march towards the line that divides Kashmir into two parts.
However, the army and police stopped the march and asked the protestors to return to their homes.
Similar protests were earlier held in Tangdhar and Baramulla as well with people threatening to cross over.
