Describing the youth as future of the country, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee chief G A Mir has urged them (youth) to remain steadfast in serving the people and in strengthening the country and state.
"Youth have the responsibility of strengthening the nation and making it free from social evils. The Youth will have to play a pivotal role in strengthening the democratic institution also and work with great enthusiasm to ensure overall development of the country and state. Country's future lies in their hands," PCC chief said while addressing a day-long convention organized by Pradesh Youth Congress here today.
Indian Youth Congress president Raja Amrinder Singh Brar was the Chief Guest.
Former PCC president, Peerzada Muhammad Syed; MLA Muhammad Amin Bhat; PCC office bearers, IYC secretary Dr Uma Shanker Panday; PYC president Pranav Shagotra; general secretaries Naseer Ahmad Mir and Amir Rasool also addressed the convention.
Mir said youth needed to utilize their skills and should work with vigour for the upliftment of people especially poor and downtrodden.
"Youth will have to share the responsibility of strengthening the democratic intuitions like Panchyats, urban local bodies by involving themselves fully in these institutions," he added.
Mir urged the youths to gear up for the forthcoming ULB and Panchayat elections and ensure Congress party's overwhelming victory.
The PCC chief said it is the Congress party and UPA Government that launched several schemes directly benefitting youth to make them strong and economically viable.
The PCC chief also administered oath to Youth convention.
