“Kulgam boy tops Int’l Maths Olympiad”

A 3rd standard student from Watoo-Ahrabal area of Kulgam district in south Kashmir has won gold medal of excellence in 9th International Mathematics Olympiad, conducted by the International Mathematics Olympiad and Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) late last year.

A 3rd standard student from Watoo-Ahrabal area of Kulgam district in south Kashmir has won gold medal of excellence in 9th International Mathematics Olympiad, conducted by the International Mathematics Olympiad and Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) late last year. 

Viqar Majeed Magray, son of Abdul Majeed, of Kids Career Public School Kapran Shopian has secured first position in the examination held on 20 October and 5 November last year. The results were declared in second week of February 2016. 

 

He has secured 104th International rank in this highly competitive exam.

 

Viqar has also secured first position and won School Gold Medal in SOF 18th National Science Olympiad.

 

Abdul Majeed Magray said: "Thousands of students appeared in these competitive exams and Allah Almighty bestowed success on my son."

 

During the academic year 2014-15, over 31500 schools from more than 1400 cities registered and millions of students appeared for the four Olympiad exams. These Olympiads were conducted across 19 countries.
