Governor N N Vohra, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and others have greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi. 

In a message of felicitations, the Governor observed that this day has a special significance for the people of Northern India, particularly for the Sikh community as the Khalsa Panth was born on this day, which also marks the beginning of the New Year in the Indian Calendar.

The Governor said that, in the Northern States, Baisakhi also marks the commencement of the harvesting season. He observed that the celebration of this festival is a shining example of our glorious pluralistic traditions.

The Governor prayed for peace, harmony, brotherhood, progress and prosperity in the state. 

Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, today extended warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi.

In her message of felicitations, Mehbooba Mufti said the custom of observing Baisakhi with harmony and brotherhood adds colour to its festivity. She called for strengthening the bonds between various sections of society and nurturing mutual amity and communal harmony. The Chief Minister also prayed for peace and prosperity of the state.

The National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Working President Omar Abdullah have greeted the people of the State on the occasion of Baisakhi and have prayed for amity, brotherhood and peace in the State. 

In his message on Baisakhi eve, Dr Farooq Abdullah highlighted the rich ethos of Jammu and Kashmir of celebrating festivals and holy occasions in an atmosphere of brotherhood and amity. He expressed hope that this characteristic of the State would get further strengthened in the future. 

NC Working President Omar Abdullah while felicitating people on the eve of Baisakhi prayed for the progress and prosperity of the State and highlighted the State's rich legacy of religious harmony and cultural diversity. 

National Conference General Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar, Additional General Secretary Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, NC Provincial Presidents Nasir Aslam Wani and Devender Singh Rana besides various Senior Leaders of the party have also extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Baisakhi. 

Expressing joy and happiness over the festival of Baisakhi that is being celebrated on April 13, All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has expressed hope that the festival of Baisakhi would be harbinger of peace and prosperity in the state.

In his Baisakhi greetings message, APSCC Chairman, Jagmohan Singh Raina said that festivals like Baisakhi bring about happiness and joy among the people. Raina said such festive occasions provide a chance to the people of different communities to come close to each other while exchanging pleasantries.
