Clashes erupted between youths and forces in several areas of central Kashmir's Ganderbal on Wednesday.
Reports said that youth assembled at Baroosa and Kurhama areas while chanting anti-India and pro-freedom slogans. The youth were protesting against the Handwara killings.
The forces who were deployed to man Srinagar-Leh highway fired several teargas canisters and chased away the youth.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown was observed in the entire district with traffic remaining off the roads while most of the business establishments, schools and colleges remained closed in the district.
Authorities have deployed forces in the market places at Beehama, Duderhama, Tawheed Chowk, Nagbal, Safapora, Baroosa and Manigam.
