The Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers have demanded release of salaries which, according to them, are pending since December last year.
"We are subjected to mental torture due to delay in releasing our salaries," said Farooq Ahmad Tantray, a teacher from Ganderbal district.
Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar put the blame on Government of India saying that there was no liability from state government.
"Earlier we were responsible for delay in release of salary as we had liabilities but we don't have any liability as of now. The delay is from MHRD who have not released the funds," Akhtar said.
