Wildlife workers seek timely wages, safety tools

The wildlife rescue workers at Dachigam National Park (central) here have demanded timely dispensation of their wages.

"Our salary is mere Rs 3000 a month and for that we have to wait for months together. We demand that our salaries should be disbursed through bank and our services regularized," the rescue workers told Greater Kashmir.

They also sought increase in their monthly remuneration. The workers added that department is not providing any safety equipment to the workers while dealing with the wild animals that stray into human habitations.

"Sometimes it takes days to tame a strayed animal and in absence of proper gadgets, the lives of rescue workers are put at stake. Our request to the concerned officers is that we should be provided enough protective tools and gear so that we could deliver our services calmly," they further said.
