Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday alleged that a Bemina man Sheikh Tanvir Sultan was killed in "cold-blood".

In a tweet, Mirwaiz said: "Killing of Tanveer Sultan of Bemina a cold blooded murder.Govt version baseless. We demand justice & impartial probe by an independent agency."

Earlier, Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani had also demanded an independent probe into the killing of Tanveer.

Government on Tuesday claimed that Tanveer was killed in a shoot-out with police and paramilitary forces in Kud area of Udhampur district of Jammu region.

The family has, however, refuted the claim, saying that Tanveer was not a militant and that he was travelling to Amritsar for a health check-up.
