Bandipora students protest ‘harassment’ of teacher
Scores of students of Government Degree College Bandipora on Thursday staged protest demonstration against the alleged 'harassment' of a female lecturer by a student on Tuesday.
The protesters staged sit-in outside principal's office and raised slogans against the college administration for failing to take action against the student.
"It is very unfortunate that three days have passed since the incident happened but the college administration is yet to take action against the student," said one of the protesting students.
The lecturer while talking to Greater Kashmir said that she was 'harassed' and 'threatened' by a student on Tuesday when she scolded him for creating 'indiscipline' inside the college premises.
She said she then approached the principal with the complaint but instead of taking action against the student, the principal asked me to go to police station.
Meanwhile, the College Contractual Lecturers' Association Bandipora observed strike on second consecutive day against the alleged 'harassment' of their colleague. The class work also remained suspended for the second day.
Principal GDC Bandipora, Reyaz Qureshi said they had constituted a committee to look into the matter which found nothing serious about the issue.
