PDP-BJP using majority in House to gain political mileage: Cong

Deliberating on Panchayati Raj Amendment Bill which was passed today in the Legislative Assembly, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) accused the coalition government of taking benefit of majority in the House and conspiring to undermine the authority of PRIs to gain political mileage.

In a meeting of PCC legislators and senior office bearers, presided over by party chief G A Mir here today, the participants said that Congress party, in order to ensure the overall development of the state, shall continue to fight for strengthening the PRIs and other democratic institutions directly benefitting the common people at grass roots level.

According to a PCC spokesperson, the meeting also discussed the overall socio-political scenario obtaining in the State, besides just concluded Anantnag by-elections.
