Stating that government had completely failed to control the situation in Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and MLA Khansahib Hakim Muhammad Yasin today said cosmetic steps taken by successive state and centre governments to bring peace in the state have yielded no results as those were always half hearted attempts.
In a statement Hakim Yasin said, "The situation is turning from bad to worse. There is acute shortage of essential commodities especially medicines in the Valley. It is duty of the government to bring the people out of the mess. However, so far the government has failed in its duty as its appeal to contain protests has yielded no results." The PDF chief said unless the root cause of the problem, which is Kashmir issue, the situation won't improve. "Apparently the situation may improve for some time with cosmetic measures but in the long run, unless Kashmir problem isn't addressed according to the aspirations of its people, the present situation will re-occur again and again," he warned.
