At least 20 people were injured after government forces fired teargas shells into a pro-freedom rally in Ganowpora village of Shopian in south Kashmir.

Witnesses said that forces including army men set ablaze tents, public address system and generator while trying to break up the 'referendum rally' of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat.

"They vandalized the venue," said a participant, adding that the rally is going on despite the forces' "rampage.
