Police on Wednesday said that a manhunt has been launched to arrest four "miscreants" who "thrashed a person and damaged his vehicle" in Kunzar area of north Kashmir.

A spokesman said that a case under FIR number 90/2016 under section 336, 427, 307 RPC was registered after a man complained that his son was beaten by miscreants.

"Mohammad Sultan Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad, resident of Chek-i-Cheratram Kunzar reported in Police Station Kunzer that his son namely Shabir Ahmad Dar who was travelling to his home from Bewa in his vehicle bearing registration number JK05C-3550 was stopped near Cheeratram by miscreants," said the spokesman.

He said that the miscreants pelted stones on his vehicle and damaged it.

"They also beat up Shabir Ahmad. On this complaint police has registered a case FIR number 90/2016 under section 336, 427, 307 RPC," he said.

The accused, he added, were identified as Waqar Ahmad Hajam son of Ghulam Nabi, Yaseen Hajam and Saqib Hajam – sons of Ghulam Hassan Hajam, resident of Check-i-cheeratram.

"Police has launched a manhunt to arrest these miscreants," said the spokesman.
