Dukhtaran-e-Millat on Sunday condemned the "highhandedness" of Jammu and Kashmir Police and mid-night raids in Barzalla area.
In a statement, spokesperson of DeM said that "forces ransacked the private property and harassed women folk. Police irrespective of gender and age beat up the inmates including kids and misbehaved with the women. While the Delhi's agents are preaching women's rights, their police is misbehaving, maltreating and abusing and accusing women, besides arresting them."
The spokesperson said that "police used excessive force including teargas shelling during night to raid the civilians." "They vandalized household goods, broke windowpanes and conducted nocturnal raids on the houses of civilians and harassed the inmates. The government forces have looted the household items, jewellery and other expensive utilities including electronic items. Clothes of many women were torn, even moblie phones were snatched. People were not even allowed to go for prayers," the statement said.
Meanwhile the DeM secretary general Nahida Nasreen has condemned the arrest of Naseem Geelani, the elder son of Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani. "Police wants to break the resolve and will of Geelani sahib by harassing and arresting his family members," Nasreen said.
