Police on Monday claimed to have arrested three persons who made an unsuccessful attempt to snatch weapons from cops at a police post in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Police Awantipora had a specific input that a group of youth was being motivated by HM Commander Zakir Rashid Bhat @ Mosa to snatch weapons from minority pickets or Police and to join the banned militant ranks," said a spokesman.

"Upon this input police arrested one Shakir Ahmad Khan and who during questioning disclosed this plan to snatch weapons. Accordingly 03 persons namely Mohammad Asif Khan, Adil Ahmad Najar and Saqib Nazir Bhat were taken into custody."

He said the trio confessed to have hatched a conspiracy to snatch weapons from minority pickets or police so they could join militant ranks.

"Accordingly Case FIR No.190/2016 under unlawful activities act has been registered and investigation is set into motion. This operation was conducted by Police along-with 42 RR," added the spokesman.
