Geelani denounces ban on IRF run by Dr Zakir Nayak

Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani has strongly condemned the ban on Islamic Research Foundation (IRF), run by a world renowned Islamic scholar and religious preacher Dr Zakir Nayak, saying "the contours of Hindu Rashtra are being unfolded with these actions."

"IRF has been established in February 1991 and its sole aim is presenting, understanding and promoting Islam and clearing the misconceptions and doubts amongst less aware Muslims and non-Muslims. Since its establishment the institution has been on the forefront of the comparative research and constructive interaction between almost all religions within the ambit of law and constitution, using the modern technological tools and social networking. With his in-depth knowledge of all religions and astonishing and surprising sense of memory mesmerized his audiences which include not only Muslims but non-Muslims as well and a good number of people convinced by his logic embraced Islam. Its growing influence could not be taken well by the propagators of Hindu Rashtra and they started a malicious campaign to defame the organization through its paid and biased media houses and prepared the ground for its ban," Geelani, in a statement today, said.

Geelani said, "Curbing such activities in the garb of national security is nothing but implementation of fascist agenda by which all the minorities particularly Muslims are wiped out from India. These communal forces can't tolerate any conscious, sincere or a practicing Muslim. They only pat and chuck those who are namesake Muslims and by their deeds are ahead of even their saffronised masters. They project them as the true and genuine faces of Muslims on TV screens to discuss and to put their words in their mouth."

"Muslims of India should join their heads to devise a common, united and comprehensive strategy to fight this fascism and if they still remained divided in different sects or in their own cocoons, the day is not far when Muslims will be forced to worship in the temples, their mosques will be transformed into bars and their religious festivals will be banned," Geelani said, adding that "These Hinduta Pracharks, devoid of even a trace of humanity, can't even afford to allow the son to participate in the last rites of his father and Dr Zakir Nayak was not allowed this right. Muslims have been suffocated and denied the legal, democratic and all the peaceful means and humiliatingly treated as third class citizens."

He said, "The fascist mindset has already inseminated its dirty and mean seeds by none other than the green clad Muftis, saintly and scholarly Akthars and bearded Beigs. And if India along with these so-called Muslim faces continues to bargain our honor, faith and blood, we will be no different than helpless Muslims of India. Such actions with each passing day confirm and strengthen our resolve to fight the armed control not only to safeguard our life and livelihood but our honor, faith and above all future of our coming generation."
